Intendo Survey – Wii Ware and Wii Fit

May 22, 2008

I don’t get to blog much. But when i do, i have to sift through backed-up feeds i haven’t yet read, sometimes a week or more old, just to make sure i didn’t miss anything. This is why the stuff i usually post is dated by a few or several days. You now know my secret… don’t look, i’m naked.

So i have to ask you some pertinent questions on a couple things i missed:

A) Wii Ware

To tell the truth, i haven’t checked out Wii Ware yet, but the idea does pique my curiosity. With a couple games getting praise — LostWinds and Boom Blox — i am a little drawn to the service. Though we’re still in the hype zone, so some investigatin’ is necessary. Intendo audience, hear ye hear ye: Have you bought any Wii Ware? If so, Wii What did you get, and Wii When? Wii How are you liking it for a first go?

B) Wii Fit

Just like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, there just aint no way i’m paying over 80 bucks to play a goddamn videogame by myself. Ok, maybe someone’ll stop by someday, but if i were a betting man, i’d be lonely and poor. How many of you have had your children insulted by the game’s insensitive namecalling? Is it part of your daily routine yet? How many of you are shedding blubber with it? Does it work, or is it a glorified version of Wii Sports’ training mode with a BMI?

The floor is yours.

Boom Blox is not WiiWare, it’s a disc game, and it’s completely and totally awesome.

LostWinds is a WiiWare game, and it’s short, but very sweet.

Oh my god. Am i that out of touch?

    Sad day.

Fitting that the “Outside the Loop” post is automatically generated.

I got Defend Your Castle on WiiWare having already spend hours of my life playing it on the net. Dr. Mario Online could be the Wii Tetris fix I was looking for.

As for Wii Fit…Nintendo can blow me. It is as gimick as gimick gets. It is clearly for older people who do not get out at all. As a regular gym goer, it would be useless.
