iPhone January Update disagrees with Wii

January 19, 2008

Intendo exclusive! Call Digg! Submit to Joystiq! Sue Apple for fraud!, don’t bother. It’s not that major. But, it is an exclusive, far as i know. Here’s the news, coming first-hand from yours truly (i’m my own source! no link necessary!):

The new iPhone firmware update has made it so that iPhones can no longer be charged through the USB ports on Wii. All (most?) iPods can recharge their batteries when connected to a Wii in WiiConnect24 standby mode, including the new-G Nanos and Classics. The iPhone used to be able to do this as well. But with the new January update released during Macworld this week, your iPhone can’t do it anymore. Tell all your expendable income, tech-head, geek chic, neo-yuppie friends to buy computers for that.

Don’t try to be slick, Steve. Put it in your iPhone FAQ! (And please, send me an iMac i beg you.) Guess this kills any “Apple hearts Nintendo” dreams.

That’s odd… and just a little after Nintendo professed its undying love to Apple by dropping MP3 support in place for AAC support in Wii!
