Tony Hawk muses on possible Wii Fit board skating game

October 24, 2007

Well this is promising. Wiifiit looked like it was an interesting idea but the Wiifit board was what caught most fanboys’ fancy. Or rather, the kind of games one might develop for the Wiiboard. While surfing feels like more of a natural fit, the insane popularity of the Tony Hawk skating series made it the clear winner in the category of “game most people want to use the Wiifit board to play”. Now it looks ike it just might come true:

Eurogamer: Have you seen much of Wii Fit? Do you think a Tony Hawk game would work well with the Wii Fit board?

Tony Hawk: I’ve seen a little bit of it. I think it’s possible to incorporate the Wii Fit board into one of our games, but it would change the control scheme dramatically and we’d have to figure out how to make that work. So I don’t know yet.

There’s a possibility, he says. Lemme pull a Rollin and reach for a bit and say there’s a BIG possibility considering Wii’s popularity. Assuming the bubble don’t burst, I’d expect this announcement to become formal within the next few months or so, whenever the next big game conference is. You heard it here first kids.

I still feel the combination of balance board and nunchuck and remote to pull off skate board tricks can’t be worked out… too complicated for the mind to handle on real time! Surfing, and especially snow boarding, seem more fit for the balance board.

Frisby, how do you know? You’ve never used the thing? Antonio… Just think about what your saying… It’s too hard to use your feet and hands in tandom? How do people skate, balance, and pull off tricks in real life then if you can’t use your hands and feet at the same time? Your probably one of those mouth breathers who can’t chew gum and walk at the same time, or atleast you make it sound like that. Bottom line, anything is possible with the Wii at this point… They could throw a fortune at the development and still be rolling in cash!

Acid, I would believe the developers could use the Wii remote and nunchuck to calculate the location of your hands for balance, which is the way people skate, balance, and pull off tricks in real life! Remember, Tony Hawk doesn’t have to push any buttons or triggers while skating…

Oh, it’d be fantastic if this really became a reality.

A fascinating discussion is definitely worth comment.
There’s no doubt that that you ought to write more on this subject matter, it might not be a taboo subject but typically folks don’t
talk about these subjects. To the next! All the best!!
