Wii not fit to play Ass Creed

crazed Nintendo fan attacks Altaire

Choice quote from a Guardian Unlimited interview with Ubi’s Patrice Desilets:

The Wii has blown the games market wide open. How much impact does the growth in casual gaming have on your creative process with AC?

The Wii is all about casual games. In terms of processing power and graphics capabilities the Wii is roughly equivalent to the PS2 and the first Xbox. On the team and at Ubisoft in general, we are big fans of the Nintendo approach. I like the controller and the fact that the Wii is bringing a new audience to games but Assassin’s creed would never run on the Wii hardware. There’s a big audience that’s looking for immersive gameplay and a cinematic entertainment experience with graphics that rival the best CG. It would be sad for everyone to jump on the casual games band wagon now because I think that we are very close to delivering the best of both worlds. A game with the very best production values that’s accessible enough for the mass market.

I’ve said plenty on the subject already, so i’m gonna let you guys do the commentary. As to where i’ve said plenty on it, you can refer to Wii Fanboy’s post, whom did their job by taking offense to the guy’s opinion (and statements of fact). But it boils down to this: Wii can’t handle the extreme computation needed to run a game like this. Graphics are only a fraction of the issue.

    this argument makes me sleepy.

i’m so tired of fighting with fanboys about the fact that there is still a market for games like the xbox.

“BUT LOOK AT THE WIIS SALES”

yeah, whatever. i’m so tired of it.

This shot reminds my of the clock puzzle in Resident Evil.

Man, this game really makes me want a 360. Though I suppose I can wait for the inevitable PC release.

There is simply nothing controversial about what Patrice Desilets said.

of course not, if you’re sensible. therein lies the trouble.

Patrice Desilets didn’t even need to explain why AC is not coming to Wii… I don’t know why he bothered!

But there are really good hardcore games out there coming out for 360 that could run very comfortably on Wii! Just look at Valve’s Portal, from the Orange Box… granted, that’s a really short game, and part of a whole package, but I could see this one coming out by itself for Wii with a $20 to $30 price tag. The remote controls would be awesome on that game!
