Citizen Fanboy fakes us

October 10, 2007

A few months ago we posted about some behind the scenes photos of a possible follow up to Camelot’s Golden Sun series on the GBA. A reader tipped us off, albeit a few months late, to the fact that the images were indeed faked by a Golden Sun fan, who will henceforth be known as Citizen fanboy. The site that exposed the fakes managed to get an interview with Citizen Fanboy, and here’s what he had to say:

Most people would probably imagine I created the fake get people’s hopes up or hurt them when they realised it wasn’t real, that’s not the case. I created it to help generate some controversy about Golden Sun and ultimately more discussion about the series. People’s interest seemed to peak up when my fake started circulating, I saw many posts all over the internet of people who thought it was true rejoicing and telling people how much they loved the games. That sort of talk can only be good for the series. Perhaps Camelot will take a bit more notice and come out of their hole and work on a true sequel.

We here at intendo usually scoff at Citizen Fanboy’s antics, but this time around I’m willing to give the fella a bit of leeway. He seems like a genuine fan, and since his aim was not to create notoriety for himself but to stir up interest n the series in the hopes that it’d catch Camelot’s interest, I say good for him. But god damn it you need to get a proper life.

Thanks to Ledah Ironwing for the tip!

Usually fanpeople make fanart to get others talking. Or better yet, a forum thread. But this kid…

Thats kind of sad. Maybe he should just design his own game. Or find a girlfriend. I dunno.
