New peripheral turns your DS into a mouse?

Remember that story Rollin picked up on a few days back that looked like it meant Nintendo was out to make a new handheld?  It might just be this, instead.  A peripheral that attaches to the GBA port turns your DS into an optical mouse, and it comes bundled with a game called Slide Adventure:Mag Kid which casts you as a refrigerator magnet come to life(?!) who has to take out evil magnets and absorb their powers.  Right.  I’m not sure how I feel about it either, but check out the video here and let me know what you guys think.

    Nice find.

I had already seen that video, and I think the idea is pretty ingenious… It’s more than “turning your DS into a mouse”: the computer mouse in its pad is just an analogy of the movement of the cursor across the screen. This is more like giving the sensation that the surface beneath the DS is a gaming board. It gets converted by looking to it through the DS screen (again, that’s not what is happening, but it is what it makes you feel like).

I can’t vow for the quality or entertaining value of the game itself, but the principle of the game is a very creative application of existing DS software and hardware!

The thing i was talking about had 3 axis movement just like the Wii remote, not just 2D. This is interesting, though.
