Blogshit insane: blogging trends and cliches

Bloggers are odd bastards. They’re tasked with bringing you information on whatever topic they write about while attempting to entertain by being clever and/or witty. But that ability seems to be limited by a dependance on a set of clutch phrases which mostly all of them tend to use simultaneously. In this on-going feature, we’ll be analyzing these blog-favorite expressions and why bloggers can’t help but mimic each other.

    batshit insane/crazy

Here’s one of the most prevalent phrases you’re likely to hear on your typical game blog, which is why i chose that headline you see. Four questions: Where the hell did this come from? What does it mean, why do they all keep saying it, when will it end? The only instance i can think of where bat, shit and insanity were in close proximity to each other was in the second Ace Ventura movie. Might have to let blogs have this one for the sheer brilliance of the source material… but no, it’s just too fuckin stupid and corny.

Seems like this is the blog equivalent to using the f-word for a cutting, heavy effect. It doesn’t come off that way to me, though. I just don’t get these nerds and *their culture.
