Sorry, probably a waste of a good post, but this was just too funny to pass up. We already posted before about how Project HAMMER was put on hold by Nintendo to focus on casual games, but a Nintendo exec finally admitted to it. Here’s what Beth Llewellyn said when asked about the reasons for the delay:

Are you talking about the reasons why H.A.M.M.E.R. has been cancelled?

That pretty much sums it up kids, and you could probably insert some more questions of your own in there just for funsies:

Do you care about the hardcore Nintendo fanbase?

Are you developing games aside from your top franchises to cater to anyone but the casual gamer?

Is Reggie overweight?

There is a bright side. Supposedly Crisis: Day of Disaster is still in development, so all hope is not lost. Yet.

And what is this Project H.A.M.M.E.R. that you speak of that we should be fondly looking for?

Games get cancelled day in and day out, what is so special about this one?

Hammer was one of Nintendo’s most promising and prominent new IPs at last year’s E3. Kinda highly publicized. I don’t get your sudden, intentional bout of amnesia.

I don’t really blame you for forgetting IM. The game was only ever shown once, and very little of it was shown even then. I guess people just liked the idea of swinging around a big ass hammer using the wiimote.

It was the fact that the game, along with disaster:day of crisis seemed to be on of the few bones Nintendo was throwing the core audience.

Yes. And i think I-man was being sarcastic, Bill.

I hate how I can never see sarcasm on the internets.

They need to invent a machine that gets tone across from the keyboard.

    Hey you forgot one…

“Will you ever consider releasing an external HDD attachment for the Wii?”

    That’s verbatim.

Don’t invent a machine, just a new HTML tag:

I love it when they only show you pre-rendered footage of games at E3!

    My ‘sarcasm’ ‘/sarcasm’ tags didn’t show! :p
