Pollen Sonata Nothing to Sneeze at

If there is one thing I love to see for games, its original IP. Everyday we follow the latest iteration of our beloved franchise, and wonder how they will improve or ruin a game we cherish. But I want to champion developers and publishers that take a risk and give something new and innovative a try.

We know that Nintendo’s only going to keep giving us the same things over and over again, even if it does the the shake n’ bake now. So it’s up to third party’s to get some stuff out there that grabs us, and reminds us what used to make games compelling and a mystery.

So however Pollen Sonata ends up as a game, I sure hope it gets a chance to find room on store shelves. We need more titles that lack definition, but just are their own little thing. Plus this is the kind of game I would pick up as another effort to once again try and get the wife interested in gaming. The team behind the game have a modest website up, and a PC demo available.

This is precisely the kind of game I’d like to see happening on Wii, and the kind of game that would make Wii stand out among the competition… Not “Surf’s Up” with Wiimote controls!
