Fifa 08 Wii: ‘Dinho approved
I wouldn’t quite say that EA is doing it up with Wii games, but they are at least restoring meaning to the word “exclusive”. For this year’s Fifa on Wii, EA has added gesture based gameplay, Mii stat tracking, Madden-like gesture training, and some other things. As a Wii first, Fifa 08 will be the first Wii game to use your Mii facsimiles during gameplay, although this is restricted to the party (multiplayer) mode. I almost expected a The Sims Wii treatment judging by the graphics, but EA hates me.
The party mode is made up of 3 very un-sim-y minigames: a ball juggling game, a shootout game, and a foosball type of thing. However, you will get to see your Mii in full-bodied 3D, like nature intended, playing alongside the special Ronaldinho Mii — which looks surprisingly more accurate than his latest Winning Eleven models. EA, in the linked interview with Gamespot, was quick to point out that they used their own tools to create Barca’s main man in Mii form rather than Wii’s Mii editor, but copied the style.
If only the rest of us unconventionally-faced beasts worked for EA.
