Open call

October 20, 2006

You know what? We’ve done good so far just doing these editorials. Moreover, we’re not even out of gas. Strange, but true. We’re great for Digg and Digg is good to us.

But, one thing that i think is keeping us from having a consistent audience is consistent updates. We can’t editorialize everyday, though, so we need some help. And i’m asking you because chances are that if you’ve been here more than once, it’s because something on here has compelled you to come back. Whether it was in a negative or positive way, it made an impact. That’s good because it means you jive with our groove.

We are looking for a newsperson. However, there are criteria: You gotta not be biased, man. That’s just the way it is. Also, you can’t have a writing style that mimics Joystiq or Kotaku. I want you to write how you speak and in your own way. And no matter what, do not try to act professional. I’ll kick your professional ass right outta here.

That’s the gist of it. Ideally though, there are some things i’d like in a potential new writer. Such as: racial diversity, meaning you get bonus points for being an ethnicity other than white American, even more for being non-American altogether (whatever race); and female, i’d like to have that undervalued perspective. But if you fit the main criteria well enough, there’d be no hesitation in following up with you.

You don’t have to be a newswriter. This is an invitation to anyone who wants to and thinks they can offer something unique. Again, if you have a strong affinity for any console maker and it shows in your writing, don’t even bother. Leave a comment as your application below with any info you want me to know or send it directly to me in an email (found here).
