It looks ugly yes, but more important will it still be possible to place the wii on its side with the wavebird-receiver plugged in? Seems not...

It snaps out actually. I still don't like the idea of using it because: A) I only have a spice orange wired controller and i don't wanna yank the Wii to the ground with the 2-foot short ass wire; and B) i wouldn't buy a Wavebird because that's an extra set of batteries you need to worry about.

The classic will probably find its way to my house someday, but for GameCube...i'll sit veeeery close to the telly.

the flap on the top doesn't fold in, true. It can be removed easily, though. Just pull it up.

I can't believe some of you... take a picture of a Gamecube with a wavebird receiver plugged in. Then, photoshop some legos onto IT. "Ooh, God! I think I just threw up!"

This article would have been okay 4 years ago.

It's not even that it's ugly - which it is - but that it makes the thing look awkward. Then Nintendo comes and pokes another finger in your eye by confirming that you can't use the Classic controller with Cube games.

As if GameCube owners weren't embarrassed enough about console aesthetics..

Don't worry, fris. Guys like that who criticize something like this are the same ones who say that they won't buy the black DS Lite because it smudges too easily (or say the same for a PSP).

>>Annoyed

If you don't really care about aesthetics why don't you use cynderblocks and a sheet of plywood (or a broken door for that matter) as your entertainment center. In fact, why not just tape the damn thing to the wall with duct tape so it can be considered the first wall mountable console.

Sorry I like my stuff to look neat, but even more sorry that I annoyed you with my opinion *tear*

Who sits a console (or any optical disc-media device) on its side anyway?

Not that it would look significantly less ugly. Yikes. Here's hoping Rev. (2) has an RJ-45 port and a WaveBird reciever built in.

um... do you sit and stare at the console all day instead of playing games ? who gives a crap what it looks like, the only reason they spend money on aesthetics is to draw people into buying the thing off the shelf.
